PM extends Chhath Puja wishes, prays for 'welfare, happiness, prosperity'

New Delhi, Oct 27 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended his heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Chhath Puja, a significant festival dedicated to the Sun God, Lord Surya, and the goddess Chhathi Maiya.
In a message posted on his social media handle X, PM Modi invoked the spiritual and cultural significance of the festival while wishing for the well-being of all citizens.
He highlighted the unique tradition of the evening rituals, stating: "Heartfelt Chhath Puja evening arghya wishes to all my family members across the country.
"On this sacred occasion, our tradition of offering arghya to the setting sun is very unique. May there be welfare for all by the grace of Lord Surya, may everyone attain happiness, prosperity, and success in life, this is the wish. Jai Chhathi Maiya!"
Chhath Puja is revered for its celebration of nature and spirituality, particularly in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
The Prime Minister has previously emphasized the festival's role in promoting social harmony and cultural unity, noting in his previous 'Mann Ki Baat' address that it is a reflection of India's "deep unity between culture, nature, and society."
The Prime Minister's wishes come as devotees across the nation observe the final day of the four-day festival, which culminates with the offering of 'arghya' to the rising sun.
